ANGELICA HEANEY
CREATIVE, POET, PERFORMER

Angelica is a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Alumna, receiving her B.A. in Sociology with a Double Minor in African American Studies and Creative Writing.

She is currently a Graduate student and Goldwater Fellow at New York University, pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry).​

"I started writing when I was 12 and fell in love with the art of poetry almost immediately. I have never been the most outspoken person in the room but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot to say. I don’t create with the intention to please others, I create because it is simply what I am most passionate about. In doing so, I have learned to value the power in my story and in my voice. Art is honest and it is in everything, and I hope that I can inspire others to see the same for themselves. "
